A Distância da Folha
This work points to the inevitable leveling between the natural and the artificial, where the utilitarian imagination about Nature persists, maintaining old notions while simultaneously deepening into the oscillating temporality of the artistic object as a representative of nature and its significant expansion as a critical lens. A series of objects that relate to each other in each presentation, changing their arrangement in space and their formal association, as well as their invisibility in the exhibition space, thus increasing the possibilities of reading them together.
Objects, images, glazed ceramic sculptures, representations, and visual systems reflect on the meaning of Nature in the contemporary world. Technological development and the principles of the natural world blur the line between the organic and the artificial, between the real and the represented, the natural and the industrial. This work re-represents the interaction between humanity and technology, as well as the complex dynamics between contemporary culture and Nature.
This exhibition serves as the culmination of my Master’s in Multimedia Art (Thesis Advised by Prof. João Onofre) in Lisbon, Portugal.
